Step 1
Factory reset the computer. When setting up the new computer, note the following steps:
- Use all default parameters such as US Keyboard, no second keyboard, all reporting / analytics features on.
- Set up for an Organization > use email instead of domain join
- Login using "FrontDesk@ hoteldomain . com" and it's associated password. If a phone number is needed for verification, select the main hotel phone line.

Go to Start > Settings > Updates and run Windows Update constantly throughout the process. In the meantime, do the following

Install Google Chrome
- Go to Microsoft Edge and download / install Google Chrome
- After installing Chrome, sign into chrome using the front desk email and select Link Data
- If Chrome prompts you to select a default browser, say yes and set it to be Google Chrome. If it doesn't prompt you, then go to Start > Default Apps.
- Scroll down to "Web Browser", click on whichever browser is there, and select Google Chrome in its place.
- At the same time, go to "Email" and select Google Chrome for email as well.

Install & set up Google Drive
- Go to drive.google.com> Gear Icon and select the option to Download Drive File Stream
- Select the option to Install Desktop icons and Start Menu icons
- After installation is done, sign in using the browser.
- Be sure to accept the Chrome Extension
- Go to drive.google.com> Gear Icon and select Settings
- Select Density > Compact
- Select Suggestions > Remove all checkmarks
- Go to drive.google.com and, in the top right corner, next to the information (i), there is a box which let's you select whether to display everything as a grid or as a list. Select the box for list view.
- Go to drive.google.com> Gear Icon and select the option to Download Drive File Stream

Install Adobe Reader DC
- Search Adobe Reader Download in google and follow the steps.
- Make sure to uncheck all the optional boxes. When downloading, DO NOT SELECT any of the options such as antivirus from McAfee etc. And, do not select the Adobe Pro Trial
- After installation, open Adobe Reader. It will prompt you to set the default PDF Reader. Follow the on-screen instructions and select Adobe Reader DC as the default PDF application.
- Do not install the chrome extension

Install themed background
- Right click on the desk and select "Personalize" > Themes
- Select "Get more themes in Microsoft Store"
- Search: National Parks
- Download the package for (i) US National Parks & (ii) World National Parks. DO NOT sign in or create a Microsoft store account. This will create confusion in the future
- After it installs, go back to "Themes" (step 1) and select US National Parks.

Setup Folder Settings
- Open any file explore / browser window
- At the top, click on View > Options > Change folder and search options > View
- Scroll down to the option "Hide extensions for known file types" and remove the checkmark.
- Select "Apply". Then, at the top, select the option "Apply to Folders"
Run Windows Update and restart

Clean Up
- Remove the following from the taskbar by right clicking and removing from the taskbar
- Windows Store
- Windows Mail App
- Microsoft Edge Browser
- Add icons to the taskbar by right clicking on the icon and selecting "Pin to Taskbar"
- Google Chrome
- Google Docs
- Google Sheets
- Calculator
- Remove all tiles from the Start Menu by right clicking and removing
- Remove the following icons from the desktop
- Microsoft Edge
- Adobe Reader
- Google Slides
- Remove Items from Quick Links
- Open any folder
- In the left hand column, under Quick Links, right click and select "Unpin from Quick Access" or "Remove from Quick Access"
- The only folders that should be here are
- Downloads
- Desktop
- Google Drive > My Drive folder
- Remove all other software from the computer
- Start > "Control Panel" > Programs & Features
- Remove items such as:
- Microsoft Teams Systemwide installer
- Microsoft Onedrive
- Microsoft Vizio and Microsoft Office
- The only software to remain should be:
- Google Chrome
- Google Drive
- Adobe Reader
- Microsoft Edge
- Any software from the electronic door lock vendor
- Remove additional "Printers"
- Set Power & Sleep settings
Run Windows Update and restart
