Policy
The company will provide paid sick leave to employees who have worked 30 or more days in California within a year of their employment with the company.
Procedure
Sick leave accrues at 1 hour per every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 40 hours or 5 days of use per calendar year, whichever is greater.
Employees may begin using sick leave after completing 90 days of employment. Sick leave must be taken in increments of no more than 2 hours.
Accrued, unused sick leave will carry over from yer to year, with a maximum accrual cap of 80 hours or 10 days, whichever is greater.
Sick leave may be used for diagnosis, care, or treatment of an existing health condition, or for preventative care for the employee or their family members. Family includes spouses, registered domestic partners, children, parents, parent in-laws, step-parent, grandparents, grandchildren and siblings. It may also be used for reasons related to domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking.
If the need for leave is foreseeable, employees should provide reasonable advance notice. If not foreseeable the company request at lease 2 hours notice, when practicable.
Unused sick leave is not paid out at separation, but if an employee is rehired within one year their previously accrued sick leave will be reinstated.
